John Anthony Lorenzo, age 85, of Wellington, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, with his beloved wife, Dorine, by his side.
John was born on September 26, 1940, in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He attended Central Catholic High School, where he played both football and basketball. He later attended Kentucky State University, continuing his love of football. Following his studies, John dedicated his professional life to law enforcement and public service, serving as a police officer in Methuen, Massachusetts, and later as a court officer with the Essex County Superior Court in Salem, Massachusetts. His career reflected a lifelong commitment to public safety, integrity, and service to others.
John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Dorine Pearl Lorenzo; his sister, Maria, of Salem, New Hampshire; his children, Michael of Frisco, Texas, James of Cumming, Georgia, and Kristin of Annapolis, Maryland; and his cherished grandchildren, Juliana, Marina, Christin, Creston, and Gavin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Angelo and Antonina Lorenzo.
John will be fondly remembered by his extended family, cousins, friends, neighbors, and all who knew him. He had a wonderfully unique sense of humor and a genuine interest in others, traits that made him easy to love and hard to forget.
He especially loved the beach, watching the polo ponies train in his neighborhood, and reconnecting with his children, grandchildren, neighbors, and friends. An avid boater known affectionately as “Captain John,” he found joy on the water and peace in time spent with family. Above all, John was a caring and loving man whose kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
A Mass of Christian Burial honoring John’s life will be held on Thursday, April 16, at St. Thérèse de Lisieux Catholic Church, located at 11800 Lake Worth Road, Wellington, Florida 33449.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Thérèse de Lisieux Catholic Church, a cause John would have wholeheartedly supported.
