John Henry Dillingham passed from this life peacefully at home on February 10, 2024. John was born to Waldo and Hazel Dillingham on July 28th, 1933 in Hart, MI. As a boy John loved to play sports. He lettered in 4 sports in high school; Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Track. He attended Michigan State University where he sang in the choir and became a lifelong Spartan fan. John served in the Army for 2 years where he trained to be a tank commander. John returned home where he met the love of his life, Lois Hodges. They were married on his birthday in 1956 and were married for 67 wonderful years. John received his degree from Ferris State University with a degree in Land Surveying. John worked in Allegan, Michigan for many years as a land surveyor and land developer. John and Lois raised their three girls in Allegan; Christie (Steve) Sutherland, Richland, MI; Carolyn Flak, Boca Raton, FL; and Julie (Jim) Peirce, West Palm Beach, FL. In 1985, John and Lois moved to sunny Florida where they settled in West Palm Beach. After retirement they enjoyed spending summers in Allegan visiting family and friends. John was always upbeat and never said a bad word about anyone. He enjoyed golfing, walking, playing cards, and going to deer camp for many years with his brothers-in-law. He volunteered with the Jacyees and Elks where he served as Exalted Ruler one year. John is survived by his wife, children, and 7 grandchildren: Laurel (Jason) Manke, Lindsay (Sandro) Gvakharia, David Sutherland, Nigel Flak, Savannah Flak, Spencer Peirce, and Taylor (Tom) Conner. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren: Seton, Eleanor, and Lila Manke, and Cara Conner, as well as many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, his 4 siblings and their spouses: Louise (Wayne) McCarty, Jean (John) Freeman, Tom (Connie) Dillingham, and Mary Ellen (Jack) McLouth. Services will be held Thurs. Feb. 22 at 3:00pm at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Parkway, Royal Palm Beach FL 33411. Friends may meet the family 1 hour before the service. Please join the family after the service at Andros Isle Club House in West Palm Beach for food and fellowship.
