John August, Jr., 50, of Lake Worth, Florida, passed away on December 6, 2010. He was born in Schenectady, New York, on August 8, 1960. John is survived by his wife, Denise; two daughters, Ashleigh and Carissa who were the pride and joy of his life, and whom he enjoyed spending time with; his father, John August Sr., his mother and step-father, Elizabeth and Joseph Kardos, all of Lake Worth, sisters Robyn August (Sean), Margaret Bonitatibus (Joe), Debra Stewart (Paul), Nancy Mars (Andy), in-laws Joseph and Loretta Jansen, West Palm Beach, Robert and Amy Balassone, Boynton Beach, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. John served in the U.S. Navy prior to graduating from SUNY, Albany, New York with a degree in nutrition. He was a competitive bodybuilder, winning the title of "Mr. West Palm Beach" in 1987 while working in the gym and fitness industry. He then embarked on a career as a computer engineer which enhanced his love of hi-tech gadgets, owning and operating A Plus Computers. He was lovingly known as "Mr. Gadget." He was actively involved in his church, Union Congregational, which he considered his second home. There he worked the sound system and was on various boards. Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 from 6-8 PM at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, Florida 33411. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at his church, Union Congregational Church, 5088 Summit Blvd., West Palm Beach, Florida 33415. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to John's daughters, Ashleigh and Carissa August in care of the Palm Beach County Credit Union, 3469 Summit Blvd., West Palm Beach, Florida 33406 by making the checks payable in the girls' names.
