Joel T. Elrod, Jr. of Wellington, FL. passed away suddenly at the age of 44 on October 6, 2024. Joel was born in Pahokee, FL on September 26,1980 to Joel and Celia Elrod (Wellington). He graduated from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, GA. Since college, Joel loved to work in the agricultural field and worked as a corn farmer and crop consultant in the Glades. Prior to him focusing on corn, he developed a species of grass for golf turf. He was proud to follow in his PaPaw's boots. Joel marched to his own beat. Played his guitar daily and listened to music of all sorts. He had an insatiable love of the water, including surfing and especially fishing (fresh or saltwater). His sense of humor and laughter was contagious. Those who knew him, describe him as one to do new things, enjoy life without fear, and a fun-loving person that could make anyone laugh. Everything he did, work or play, he enjoyed. Joel was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Marie and Warren Battle, his paternal grandfather, James Elrod, father in law Ben Becker, and mother in law Genevieve Demongeot. He is survived by his beloved wife Linda Becker, whom they shared 20 years together and married 7 of those years, daughter, Jill E. Elrod, and sister Hollie Schwartz (Robert) of Stuart. He will be dearly missed by his extended family, Nanny (Barbara Elrod), Aunt Cathy Cunningham, Uncle Warren Battle Jr (Toni), Uncle Jimmy Elrod (Ana), Aunt Terri Gold (Rick); and cousins, Alesha, Ashleigh, Mallorie, Renee, Gabby, and Mia. As well as many friends who he cherished and appreciated their love every day. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Danny's and Ron's Rescue in Joel's honor. He rescued every dog he owned, and this organization does provide support in Wellington by paying for emergency needs of pets and more. https://dannyronsrescue.org/donate
