Joan 'Joannie" Callaway, 79, of West Palm Beach, FL. Joan passed away peacefully at her home on April 19, 2018. She was born in Hartford, CT on August 14, 1938. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Belvedere Baptist Church in West Palm Beach for 55 years where she dedicated her life serving others through the love of Christ. She was a dedicated Sunday School teacher and enjoyed participating in the nursing home ministry. She spent her life visiting the sick in their homes and hospitals. She poured her love into her children, grandchildren and anyone needing a compassionate ear or helping hand. She enjoyed reading, cooking and baking for her friends and family, caring for her pets over the years and travelling to New England and Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Donald "Gene" Callaway. She is survived by her four children, Donald G. (Kelly) Callaway, Deborah K. (Jeff) Dare, John "David" Callaway, Christy (Derek) Forgas , her seven grandchildren, Jeffrey, Ryan, Lacy, Kyle, Corey, Jeremy, and Emily, her sister Helen Castleman and brother John (Deanne) Bloomberg of McMinnville, TN and sister and brother in laws, Donzie Callaway, John and Shirley Timmons and Lavonne Greene. A viewing and memorial service will be held at Belvedere Baptist Church, 301 Cherry Rd. in West Palm Beach on Saturday, April 28 at 10 am. A separate committal service will be held on Tuesday, May 1 at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 SR 7 in Lake Worth at 10:45 am. Guests are asked to assemble at the Palms West Funeral Home at 110 Business Parkway in Royal Palm Beach at 10 am to join the procession. In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to Belvedere Baptist Church and the TrustBridge Health (Hospice) in West Palm Beach.
