Jerome P. Springer Sr., age 91 of Wellington Fl., formerly of Buffalo, N.Y., passed away on October 2, 2023, after a valiant battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was the beloved husband to the late Caroline P. Springer (Greean) for 58 years. He was loving father of 8 children, Jerome Jr. (Linda), James (Candace), Janice (Thomas) Pratt, Joy (Peter) Iwanitzki, Jill (Robert) Guard, John and predeceased by sons Joseph (Cheryl) and Jeffery (Craig). He was also predeceased by parents Harold and Eleanor and Sister Eleanor (Walter) Fryzowski. He was dearest grandfather of 29 and great grandfather of 33. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews as well as his cousin Joseph (Jeanne) Norwin. Jerry was employed by the Erie Lackawanna Railroad in Buffalo, N.Y. He and Caroline raised their family on a farm in Elma, N.Y. where they nurtured farm animals, grew gardens, and created lasting cherished memories. When his family was grown, he relocated to Florida where they were again surrounded by family and friends. Jerry was a devoted father who was deeply loved and respected by his family. He treasured family gatherings, jokes of all kinds, fishing with his sons, dancing with the ladies and Friday night poker. He was thoughtful, generous, playful, and kind; always trying to make someone else's day better with words of wisdom, a kind gesture, a light joke and always leaving a lasting impression. Jerry was a devout catholic and a member of Saint Rita's Catholic Church in Wellington, Fl. After his adoring wife's passing, he met his dear friend and companion, Margaret (Peg) Caliendo at St. Rita's where they both served as ushers for many years. Jerry's love for people was evident in the many capacities in which he served his community, including president of the "Wellington Seniors" and "Forever Young" clubs. He and Peg took pride in leading members to enjoy a safe and enjoyable place to socialize and find friendship by organizing many enjoyable social events. Jerry was the heartbeat of his family and admired by many. He is now in the presence of his Lord and savior, conquered death and is with his loved ones who have left before him. He will be greatly missed here by those of us who loved him deeply. A Mass with family and friends will be held Monday, November 6th, 2023, 11:00 am at St. Rita's Catholic Church, 13645 Paddock Drive, Wellington, Fl. 33414. Following will be Jerry's journey to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery, 10941 Southern Boulevard, Royal Palm Beach, Fl. 33411 where his remains will rest in peace alongside his beloved, Caroline.
