Jeffrey Smith

Jeffrey B. Smith Jeff Smith, a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend to many passed away on Thursday, March 18th with his family and dogs by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. (As Jeff would say, cancer sucks!) Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Smith (Besanceney) of Loxahatchee FL and their children Gabrielle and Jacob Bachle; father David B. Smith of Boca Raton FL;sisters Lesley V. Spellman of Delray Beach FL and Cheryl S. LaGrone (Ron) of Madison AL; nephews and nieces Michael Spellman of Gallup NM, Ryan and Erin LaGrone (the best niece in the world) of Madison AL, William and Vincenzo Roscello of Port St. Lucie FL. He was preceded in death his mother Linda T. Smith. Born in Summit NJ on March 23rd, 1963, Jeff moved to South Florida in the late 70's, and graduated from Boca Raton High School. Jeff proudly served in the United States Navy for 6 years. Jeff took great pride in his career as a firefighter working forBelle Glade Fire Rescue before joining Palm Beach County Fire Rescue where he was a Driver/Operator for the past 28 years He liked to stay busy while on duty (he said duty) organizing, washing and polishing his engine and running errands in between calls. Jeff loved volunteering as a camp counselor for Muscular Dystrophy (fire in the hole), driving his fire trucks in parades, and community clean ups. Nothing made Jeff happier than spending time with his kids. He cherished the time he shared with Jacob in the Scouts.; being able to share his love for the outdoors, camping, hiking, cannoning, and whitewater rafting. Road trips were always about the adventure and not the destination. He was proud of his daughter Gabi so much that he named his beloved Grady White boat "Gabi Girl" after her. In lieu of flowers a charitable donations can be made in Jeff's honor to Light it Up Green for MD or to St Jude Children's Hospital
