Jean N. Duclas, 95 Jean Narcisse Duclas, 92, of Wellington, FL, passed away due to Kidney failure on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Saint Mary's Hospital in West Palm Beach. Born in Baudin, Haiti to Alisty and Cecile (Nicolas) Duclas, Jean, a farmer, immigrated to the New York City in 1985 to make a better life for his wife Marie Antoinette Duclas (d. 2002) and 10 children. Jean was a family man, who believed in hard work and integrity. To support his family, he worked for many years at a cemetery in Long Island, New York. Through his persistence and determination he was able to bring his three youngest children to the United States. Although he was a proud immigrant of the United States, he always thought of the island nation of his origin. So much so that he would spend his summers there. He also stayed informed on all the political and social occurrences on the island. Jean continued to give back to those in poverty in Haiti. He helped build a school, a clinic, a church, and a reservoir for his hometown of Baudin. Due to his charitable acts, he was well known and revered in his hometown. Jean was a religious man and never missed Sunday mass. In addition, he served on the town council of Baudin. Jean is survived by his children Reynold Duclas, Louis Duclas, Marlene Gregoire-Rosenthal, Marie Pierre, Joseph Fils Duclas, Marie Josee Duclas, and Joseph E. Duclas. He is also survived by over 25 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Park way, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411, on Wednesday, July 26 with refreshments to follow at Olympia Club house, 9100 Fatio Blvd., Wellington, Fl 33414. Funeral services for Jean will be held at the St. Francois Xavier Catholic Church in Baudin, Haiti. Jean will be laid to rest in the Duclas family mausoleum on his farm in Baudin, Haiti.
