Janet D. Bowling, 83, of West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away on June 12, 2025 following complications from a recent illness, surrounded by her loving daughters in Orlando, Florida. Janet was born to Emmett and Margaret (Dutton) Robbins on February 24, 1942 in Columbus, Ohio. After graduating from Grove City High School, where she played varsity basketball, Janet took classes at "The Ohio State, before meeting her husband, Clarence, of 61 years, at the age of twenty. Later in life, she attended Greenville Technical College in South Carolina and graduated from a Master Gardener program in Ohio. After many years of being a homemaker, Janet became a licensed Realtor and was employed by Century 21 in Florida. After moving back to Ohio with Clarence, when their daughters were grown, Janet became a proud small business owner of Bowling Builders, where she built residential homes in Eastern and Western Ohio. She also managed personal rental properties. Janet, also affectionately known as Mom, Gran, and Mom-Mom, loved Ohio State Football, bright lipstick, and saying "have a blessed day". Janet will be remembered for her love and devotion to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her husband and family, her country, and her volunteerism. Janet lived a life of service for many years. She served as an election poll worker, as a Sunday School teacher, on the church quilt ministry, and on the pillow ministry for hospitalized children. Janet also supported missionaries in her home. She also served on the Turtlecreek Township Planning and Zoning Board in Lebanon, Ohio. Janet was also a member of the Ohio AgriWomen with the Ohio Department of Agriculture. As a Master Gardener, Janet served as President of the Lebanon Garden Club, where she introduced her club to Blue Star Markers and Memorials, which honor past, present, and future military members for their sacrifices made in defense of their country. Janet also served as the Dayton District Garden Club Director and was also recognized as a "Life Member" of the Ohio Garden Club. She truly enjoyed volunteering with the garden club ladies on many different projects. Janet was a member of Family Church Gardens in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Janet leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love, laughter, service, family, and faith. She is survived by two devoted daughters— Cheryl (Ed) Egl of The Woodlands, Texas and Lisa (Joby) Slay of Orlando, Florida; and her five grandchildren—Alex and Anna Egl, and Joseph, Savannah, and Benjamin Slay. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and good friends. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Margaret, her brother, Emmett JR, and her husband, Clarence. In honor of her wishes, visitation will be held at Palms West Funeral Home in Royal Palm Beach, Florida on July 7, 2025 from 10 AM until 11:30 AM, with a service beginning at 11:30 AM. This time will be followed by a brief graveside ceremony at 1:30 PM at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida. Janet will be laid to rest with her military veteran husband, Clarence.
