Janet Myers Babich passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on February 15, 2018 at her home in Lake Worth Florida. She was born on January 12, 1924 in Witherbee, New York to Francis and Rhoda Myers. She attended Mineville High School, St. Lawrence University and received her Masters in Social Work from Columbia University. Janet married her high school sweetheart, Wally, on October 20, 1952 and they celebrated their 50th anniversary with family and friends in 2002 before his death in July 2003. Jan is pre-deceased by her parents, brother William Myers and sister Elizabeth Francois. Together they created a legacy for generations at the Adirondacks Myers Camp on Lincoln Pond, NY. A memorial rock is engraved to remind future generations of the legacy of a family camp and the foundation on which it was built – Love! Jan was a wonderful mother to her children John Babich (Jeanette), Nancy Davies (Bob), Mary Jane Rodriquez (Nelson) and Susan Foley (Terry) and a loving and generous grandmother to her grand children Darcy Olson (Nick), Ryan Davies (Amy), Kylie Foley, Chelsi Rodriguez and Spenser (Hannah) Foley and great grandchildren Jayden Munday, Madelyn Olson and Rogen Davies. Aunt Janet and Grandma loved her many nieces and nephews and friends throughout her life. She was a passionate caregiver and enjoyed her social work career. Her home was open to all, especially during the holidays. She lived her life with grace and compassion and was always considerate and pleasant. Janet was content, knowing she had a blessed life. Her kindness was felt by all who met her and she brought smiles to many. Even with her fading memory, she was kind and gentle and super funny. She was lovingly known as "grandma" to so many. Two Life Celebrations are scheduled to honor Janet: Florida -- family and friends can honor her life at Janet's ForEverGlades Celebration on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 4:00P.M. at John D MacArthur State Park on the north end of Singer Island. We will meet in the North pavilion. Alert the ranger at the gate for free entry. Follow the signs. We'll sing, share memories, hear His Word, enjoy the outdoors like Jan loved and then enjoy a picnic together. It's a great place to kayak, fish, swim, walk, breathe in fresh air. New York – our northern family and friends can join us at Lincoln Pond Myers Camp on Saturday, July 7, 2018 to celebrate Jan and her sister Betty in a Sister's Celebration. It's the best place to honor mom and will be her final resting place.
