FETTERLY, Jane Sholts, age 84, ascended into Heaven on Palm Sunday, March 28, 2021, after a brief illness. A weekly columnist for the Palm Beach Daily News for the last 15 years and Women's Editor of The Palm Beach Post in the 1960s, Jane's career included being the Public Relations Director for the Society of the Four Arts for 19 years and working as an administrative assistant for former County Commissioners Dorothy Wilken and the late Maude Ford Lee, Palm Beach County's first black county commissioner. She studied journalism at The University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.A.) and human relations at NYIT (M.P.S.). In 1965, she started the advertising agency, Fred A. Fetterly & Associates, with her late ex husband, Frederick Fetterly, Jr. Competitive horse riding and singing classical music with the Masterworks Chorus of the Palm Beaches were among her hobbies. Jane is predeceased by her parents, Henry Sholts and Ruth Goehler of Appleton, Wisconsin, and brother, The Honorable Thomas Sholts of Atlantis. She is survived by her sons, Mark Fetterly, a theatre teacher at Wellington High School, and Frederick "Rick" Fetterly III, a civil engineer in Vancouver, Washington. She is also survived by Rick's wife Robin of Vancouver; friend Gordon Nicol of Wellington; and her many loving friends and animals.
