He is survived by Tela, his wife of 54 years, their son Ronald and his wife, Dawn, two grandchildren, Matthew and Ashley, and a great granddaughter, Paisley, all of West Palm Beach, and his brother, John Wilcox of St Augustine, FL. He was born in Illinois on September 6, 1938 and lived in California, Arkansas and Mississippi before moving to West Palm Beach fifty years ago.
His career was spent in the newspaper business where he started as a printing press operator. He quickly moved into the editorial department of the Palm Beach Post where he served for 41 years as a copy editor and news editor before retiring in 2003. In retirement, Jim spent time with his family and on his hobbies, which included car racing, restoring antique cars and dog training. He was a talented amateur mechanic, welder and auto body repair technician. He will be deeply missed.
The family has decided to hold a private celebration of his life in lieu of a public service.
