James Walter Sr. August 14, 1935 - January 17, 2025 James Walter Sr., a proud Retired Veteran, devoted husband, and loving father, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, surrounded by family. He was 89 years old. Born on August 14, 1935, Jim led a life marked by duty, devotion, and quiet strength. He served his country with honor as a member of the United States Air Force, with deployments during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. His dedication to service was a defining part of his life, one that he carried with humility and pride. After retiring from the Air Force, Jim continued to work hard in civilian life, embodying a tireless work ethic and a resolve as strong as his spirit. He was known for his strength, stubborn determination, and unwavering principles. Jim was a man of many passions, but his lifelong love of airplanes stood out. He spent countless hours building model planes, a hobby that brought him joy and connected him to his past in the skies. One of his proudest moments came later in life, when he had the privilege of taking his first flight with his grandson Jack at the controls-a full-circle moment that filled his heart with pride. Above all, Jim was a family man. He was a devoted husband to Maggie, and a loving father to, Gayle, Jim, Daughter in Law Hope, Alan and Carrie. He cherished his grandchildren-Ashley, Lauren, Jack, and Holly-and took great joy in the arrival of his four great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on in each of them, in the values he instilled, and the stories he shared. Jim is survived by one brother, Fred Walter, of Norwalk Oh. Jim's life was one of quiet heroism, deep love, and lasting impact. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A service to honor Jim's life will be held, June 22, 2025 at, Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home 500 W Prospect Rd, Ashtabula, OH 44004 With military honors to commemorate his service.
