James V Scavetta

James (Jimmy) Vincent Scavetta was born and raised in Cliffside Park N.J on May 18, 1946. After a very long battle with cancer, James was called home to our Lord on March 31, 2021. He was 74 years old and was a very strong man and fought a long hard fight and never gave up. After graduating from Cliffside Park High School, Jimmy then joined the United States Army and proudly served 3 years during the Vietnam War. When Jimmy came home from the military he worked out of union hall 825 operating engineers as a crane operator for Vergona Crane Inc. out of Edgewater, NJ. While working as a crane operator he also worked part time as a police officer for the Cliffside Park Police Department in his home town. In July of 1989 he moved to West Palm Beach, FL with his family and partnered in business with his brother Bruce Scavetta. Jimmy later retired from his business in 1999. Jimmy loved his family and friends and spent most of his time with them during his retirement. James is survived by his wife of 50 years, Leigh Ashendan Scavetta, his son James F. Scavetta, two grandsons James and Jonathan Scavetta , brother and sister-in-law Bruce and Margaret Scavetta, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kelly and Larry Liso, brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Denise Ashendan, his nephews Vincent Scavetta, Ian Ashendan, and Michael Prisco, nieces April Tarabocchia, Kayley Liso, Livia Liso, and his great nieces and nephews. James is also survived by a lifelong friend who he has known since he was a child, Richard Diciedue. James was predeceased by his "Angel" (daughter) Jodi Scavetta, parents James and Elizabeth Scavetta, his in-laws Frank and Ann Ashendan, his sister and brother-in-law Gayle and Michael Prisco, and his two nephews Mark and Jimmy Prisco.
