James F. Johnson

September 6, 1948 — September 25, 2025

James Francis Johnson, of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, formerly of Warwick, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 77 years old. Born on September 6, 1948, in Providence, James was the beloved son of the late Clyde and Marion (Hennessey) Johnson. A proud veteran, he served three years of active duty in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman, earning the rank of E5 Sergeant before being honorably discharged. James earned a degree in science from Johnson & Wales University and went on to dedicate nearly 30 years of his career as a small engine mechanic with Superior Equipment. He later brought his talents and work ethic to Southern Lawn Equipment, where he continued to work until his retirement. James was a man of many passions. When he wasn't repairing engines, he could be found fishing, tinkering with his latest project, or treasure hunting, always curious, always hopeful. He had a unique gift for seeing potential and value in everything and everyone. James was a man of deep generosity and quiet strength. Known to many simply as a "good man," he was kind, hardworking, and endlessly optimistic. He would give the shirt off his back to someone in need and was a lifelong blood donor, a true testament to his giving spirit. Above all, James cherished his family. He leaves behind his devoted daughter, Brandy Bacon, and her husband Jon-Paul; his grandchildren, Baylee Bacon, and her husband to be Bryan Frappier and Jennicka Amirault, and her husband Owen; and step-grandchildren, Matthew Koch and Alison Koch. He is also survived by his loving siblings: Beverly Fontana and her husband Victor, Jeannie Varrica and her husband Bob, and Donald Johnson. He was predeceased by his sisters Joyce Johnson and Doris Quackenbush. James's legacy of kindness, integrity, and unwavering love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A memorial service to honor James's life will be held on October 11, 2025, at Palms West Funeral Home in Royal Palm Beach, Florida. A burial with military honors will take place at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, Rhode Island, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Veterans Charity James Michael Ray VVA Chapter 818, PO Box 818, Woonsocket RI 02895 or blood donation in James's memory.
