Jacquellyn Humphries

January 25, 1942 — June 10, 2024

Jacquellyn Mahoney Humphries of West Palm Beach passed away peacefully on June 10, 2024, at the age of 82, at her home, with her loving husband, Ed; her faithful dog, Stormy; and her brother, Kevin, by her side. Jacque, also affectionately known to so many as AJ, was the first of seven children born to Jack and Ellen Mahoney on January 25, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. She moved to West Palm Beach in 1951 and graduated from Palm Beach High in 1959. Her first job was with Q Airways working at the ticket counter around the time of the evacuation of Cuban refugees who fled Cuba with only the clothing on their backs. She met her husband Edward D. Humphries, III and they married on January 27, 1961. She had two children, Laurie Ellyn and Edward, and in 1969, the family moved to Cleary Road where they lived for 55 years. Jacque hosted many gatherings at her home on Cleary Road filled with food, fun, friends and family. Jacque worked at the YMCA for many years running the front desk where she greeted members who came in to play racquetball and swim, managed the after-school programs, camp counselors and young campers who attended the summer camps and after school programs. She was actively involved with her children, Laurie and Eddie, in all their school activities at Holy Name of Jesus School and their baseball and softball games at Lake Lytal fields on Gun Club Road. She loved being involved with Laurie riding and showing horses at the Fairgrounds and Posse Grounds, coaching her softball team at Holy Name, and always being her biggest fan. Jacque loved her children more than life. Her most important and dearest job to her, above all else, was being a wife to Ed and a mother to Laurie and Edward. The most tragic losses in her life were the passing, too soon, of her beloved son, Eddie in 2015, and her great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Rae in 2017. Jacque was a member of the Gold Coast Rottweiler Club. She loved working with her Rotties and taking them to shows all over Florida. She was passionate about spending time with her grandchildren, Heather, Charlie and Nikki, and her many nieces and nephews who spent countless days at Cleary Road playing in the big tree, riding four wheelers, eating chocolate chip cookies, and playing with her dogs, Susie, Grit, Ember, McGee and Dazzle, and so many others! Jackie is survived by her husband, Ed, of 63 years; her daughter, Laurie (Charlie a/k/a Rip); her grandchildren, Heather (Joey), Nikki and Charlie; her great-grandson, Jackson, her sisters, Mary Alice (Tony) Maureen (Pat) and Faith (Dick), her brothers, Kevin (JoNell), John (Helen) and Brian (Martha); and so many nieces and nephews. A service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411 In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Trustbridge Hospice Care in Jacque's name. https://Trustbridge.com
