Jack H. Casler, 84, of Lake Worth, Florida, died Thursday January 27, at Wellington Regional Hospital. He was born April 30, 1926 in Blair, Wisconsin, the son of Floyd and Hazel Casler. Jack served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1945 – 1947. As an Ensign, he decommissioned ships and was stationed in Pearl Harbor. Jack graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1948 with an Engineering degree. On August 6, 1949 he married Alta E. Albright in Lake Mills, Wisconsin. He built his career as a licensed Civil Engineer and a Professional Land Surveyor. He lived in the Wellington, Florida area for nearly 40 years having moved to South Florida from Madison, Wisconsin. He was a charter member of the Wellington Exchange Club in the 1980s, serving as President for many years. Jack never really retired, continuing to work part-time this past year. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Bob Liebhauser of Denver, Colorado, daughter Pamela Gohlke of Wellington, Florida; grandchildren, Jennifer and Jonathan LeBlanc of Plano, Texas, Kim and Bill Kroll of Durham, North Carolina, Darcy Liebhauser of Denver, Colorado and Hayes Hoessel of San Diego, California; and 5 great grandchildren who brought him great joy. Jack lost his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Alta, in April 2010. His sister, Betty Nelson, and brother, R. Tom Casler, preceded him in death. Jack was an avid bowler remaining active in a weekly league. He leaves behind a legacy in Wellington as one of the early developers of the village. He was responsible for naming streets, the infrastructure, and developing the first polo fields. Jack was very outgoing and always was interested in meeting new people. Everyone he met loved him. He will be greatly missed. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart Association at www.americanheart.org. A memorial service will be held Monday January 31, at 2:00 PM at the Palms West Funeral Home in Royal Palm Beach.
