Iva Polak Wummer, 87, of Wellington, FL sadly left us on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Kindred Hospital of The Palm Beaches of Natural Causes. Iva was born on April 25, 1936 in Prague, Czechoslovakia to Antonin Polak and Anna Kollman Polak. At the age of 4, her family escaped the Nazi occupation by relocating to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Iva who had contracted Polio from her nanny, was not able to walk. Finally at age 14 and after numerous trips to New York for a multitude of surgeries, she was able to walk. In Rio de Janeiro she loved to horseback ride, English style with her beloved father Antonin. As a young woman, Iva worked in her father's company. She would often say he was very strict and worked very hard. Iva married and had three children. In early 1968, Iva separated from her husband and moved to Palm Beach Island. She remarried and had another son in 1973. Iva always loved children and helped raise her two stepchildren. The family enjoyed spending summers in West End Grand Bahama. In 1976, Iva started a canine security company. She loved dogs and had a passion for work. It was a rarity not to see Iva on the phone. In 1984, Iva separated from her second husband, sold her beloved home on the intracoastal in Palm Beach and moved to Wellington, FL where she started a new security company; United Special Patrol which she managed until her death. Iva was a devout catholic, loved attending church on Sundays and bringing lollipops for the children who attended mass. When she was not at the office, Iva loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. She enjoyed Broadway shows and the opera. Iva's heart was larger than life. She never complained about life's situation and in darkness she always saw the light. Iva saw the good in everyone and was always there to encourage. Iva was a dreamer always there to help anyone in need. She gave her all to family, friends, business, and anyone who was fortunate enough to know her. Heaven has gained an angel. Iva is survived by her children Tony Joseph (Jeannie), Christina Young (Lane), Fred Joseph, Billy Wummer (Sherri).
