Iris Maude Smith, of Lake Worth, FL, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, at The Royal Palm Beach Health and Rehabilitation Center, Royal Palm Beach, FL. Iris lived independently well past her 100th birthday, in good health, a kind heart, and a sharp wit. Iris was born on August 1, 1921, in Spanish Town, Jamaica, West Indies, the daughter of Ruth Powell and Arthur Smith. She had three older siblings—Vernal, Beryl, and Gilbert (Tookie) Blake—and a younger sister, Hyacinth Smith. Iris was a professional hair stylist who migrated first to England and later to the United States. She lived in New Jersey and Maryland before retiring to Florida, where she joined with her sister Beryl, her niece Joyce, and Joyce's husband, Carl Barnett. Iris was treasured by a large extended family—her nieces Joyce, Madge, and Wyonne; nephews Bobby, Lorenzo, Michael, Carl Carlton, and Maurice; as well as many cousins, grandnieces, grandnephews, neighbors, and friends. She was an active and devoted member of St. Therese de Lisieux Catholic Church in Wellington, FL.
