Iraida Lazara Rubio, 85, of Pahokee, Florida passed away peacefully on August 27, 2022. She was born in Isabela de Sagua, Cuba and relocated to Miami, Florida in 1962. She married Juan Jose Rubio and moved to Pahokee, Florida in 1964. She was a devoted wife and the mother of three beautiful children. Iraida was known for her hospitality, and had an open door to those in need. She played a big role in caring for many of her nieces and nephews and even treated other children as one of her own family members with open arms. Those who knew her, loved her gentle and giving spirit. She was a committed member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she faithfully served as a leader of the Alter Society. Iraida was also known for her many delicious authentic Cuban meals and was often asked to make her famous "Arroz con gris". She was affectionately known in the community as "Mami". Iraida was proceeded in death by her husband Juan, and leaves behind her children: Juan Rubio (Lynette), Felix Rubio (Toya) and Alina Walker (Derek). Grandchildren: Ashley Shepard (Michael), Felicia Duce (Johnnie), Jazlyn Walker, Maurice Walker, Darius Walker, Janiya Pryor, La'Shatay Symons, Jalessa Walker (Marcus), Derek Walker Jr., Monique Walker, Lia King, Brandon Beverly, Jordan Beverly and Javian Mosley. Great-Grandchildren: Aliana Duce, Jaxson Duce and Michael David Rubio Shepard along with devoted nieces Martiza Rubio and Carmen Rubio and a host of other relatives and friends.
