Ina Elizabeth Marie Usher-Gough, a resident of Wellington, Florida, passed away on April 13, 2023. Marie was born in Dangriga, Belize, on January 14, 1963. She was the apple of her father's eye, a scrabble wizard, a tree-climbing can't-be-left-behind little sister, an avid reader, and a gifted student, starting first grade at the age of four. She loved being a member of her large, loving, gregarious family. Her parents modeled hospitality, affection, generosity, hard work, creativity, and self-possession. These qualities defined Marie throughout her life. Marie earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's in human resources at Florida Tech. She became a social worker supporting adults with mental health issues, families in need, and children within the foster care system. When she was sixteen, she met Jim Gough, the love of her life. She said he was kind, smart, and good-looking, but what really reeled her in was his guitar. They married on November 4, 1984, and had a daughter and two sons. The family moved every few years due to the nature of Jim's work, and Marie cultivated friendships wherever they went and maintained those friendships for decades. She poured her heart and soul into her husband and children, loving them and loving those they loved. Consequently, she became a beloved, de-facto mother and sister to many, investing her time, love, and wisdom into the success of an uncountable tribe. Marie loved to cook and bake. She also enjoyed gardening, music, hosting holiday gatherings, writing, meditating, traveling, attending group fitness classes, and doting on her two granddaughters. She left us too soon, but her life was big and beautiful. She is survived by her mother, Delia Usher; her husband, Jim; her children, Jayme, Brian, and Matthew; her granddaughters, Ellie and Zara Cushing; and a multitude of others whom she held in her enormous heart. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach. The funeral mass will be at 11 am Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at St. Therese de Lisieux Catholic Church, 11800 Lake Worth Road, Wellington. In lieu of flowers, the family asks mourners to donate to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network by phone at 877-272-6226, online at pancan.org/donate, or through the mail at 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
