Deputy Sheriff Ignacio "Dan" Diaz, 51, of Palm Beach County, passed away on Monday, November 25th, 2024 in West Palm Beach, Florida, at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was surrounded by family and close friends. Born on March 26th, 1973, in Catalina De Güines, Cuba, Ignacio was a devoted police officer known for his loyalty and humor. He served his community for 28 honorable years. Born to Ignacio Daniel Diaz and Bertha Moreira-Diaz, Ignacio "Dan" Diaz lived his early childhood in Cuba. After coming to America, Ignacio resided in Palm Springs, Florida and graduated from John I. Leonard High School in 1991. Shortly after high school, Ignacio graduated from The Police Academy and became double certified as a firefighter and police officer with Palm Springs Police Department. Ignacio then went on to become Palm Springs' first motor officer and paved the way to start their motor unit. From 1996-2004, Ignacio served with the Palm Springs Police Department. Known for his charismatic nature, dedication to public safety, and overall skill, Ignacio served with the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office from 2004-2024. He was transferred to the DUI unit in 2008 and thrived there. In 2014, after receiving multiple awards in the DUI unit, Ignacio became Deputy Sheriff in the PBSO Motor Unit. Throughout his time as Deputy Sheriff of the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office Motor Unit, Ignacio "Dan" Diaz was awarded several awards to recognize his hard work and dedication to traffic enforcement. Ignacio is survived by his daughter, Alexandria "Alex" Diaz; his love, Shariska Monroy; his step-children Nahalia and Kaeden; his mother Bertha Moreira-Diaz; his sisters Marilyn Caballero and Odalys Diaz; his nephews Eric Caballero and Scotty Willeford; and his companion Vice. Ignacio was predeceased by his father, Ignacio Daniel Diaz (1941-1974). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024 at 11 AM at the iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre, 601 Sansbury Way, near the South Florida Fairgrounds. Ignacio will be remembered as a caring and devoted father, partner, and lover of animals. In his free time, you could find him caring for his pets, spending time with his family, and exploring the outdoors. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, unconditional love for his family, honesty, loyalty, and kind heartedness. Ignacio will also be remembered by those who were lucky enough to receive a nickname from him. He was an avid lover of diverse cuisines and thoroughly enjoyed testing different IPAs and cigars. Ignacio's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing him.
