Howard Saunders Smith, 69, passed away August 15, 2014 after an extended illness. He was a 5th generation Floridian born in Fort Pierce, FL to Elmer and Alicia Smith (deceased). He was the youngest of four brothers. He was an Eagle Scout, a championship water skier, a lover of nature, a devoted member of the Episcopal Church, an active Cursillo member, an Air Force veteran, & a retired Xerox employee. He cheered for, watched, & walked the sidelines of football his entire life as a fan, a player, & as a proud Papa. Of all the things in his life, what he was the proudest of and cared the deepest for is the family he is survived by; his wife of 44 years Kathleen, his daughter Michelle Jourgensen (Eric), his grandchildren Kayla & Evan Upson & Michael Jourgensen, his brothers Conrad (Jean), Elmer Jr. (Janice), & Ronald (Manda) Smith, & numerous cousins, nieces, & nephews. He was a friend to & touched the lives of so many people & never asked for anything in life except for the people he cared about to be happy. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 23, at 10:30am at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, 1003 Allendale Road, West Palm Beach, 561-833-7605. The family is asking in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to Holy Spirit in Howard's name.
