Howard William Sickler, 96, of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away on December 31, 2014, at home with his wife, daughter and son-in-law in attendance. Howard was born on July 2, 1918 in South Waverly, Pennsylvania , the younger of 2 sons of Mary and Edwin Sickler. His formal education concluded with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public School Education from Mansfield State Teachers' College, Pennsylvania in 1940. He enlisted in the Navy, where he served in the Navy Band as Trumpeter, Musician First Class. In addition being a professional performing musician, he was a trumpet instructor, piano technician, and retailer of pianos and organs in Rochester, NY and then West Palm Beach, FL. as Sickler Music, Inc. He was still performing on trumpet at the age of 94. Howard is survived by his wife of 72 years, Norma; 3 daughters Cheryl, Diane and Lenore; 3 grandchildren Holly and Kelly Hennecy and Harmony Griffith; and 2 great-grandchildren Anthony and Courtney Killick. Howard was diagnosed with lung cancer in September 2014. He will be cremated and a memorial service is being planned.
