On Tuesday November 22, 2011 this world has lost a very special man. Howard (Pop) Elkins was born on June 2, 1918 in Louisville, Kentucky and was raised in Lovett, Indiana. He was a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He was married for 56 years to Eleanor, had a son named Jack, a son named Gary and a daughter named Sandra. Grandfather to Triste, Dena, Jill and Jack and great grandfather to Cameron, Ellie and Sofia and Olivia….He was a local business man who owned and ran Outdoor Sports World for 53 years. He was honest and had integrity and was loved by many friends and customers and all of his family treasured every day they had with him. He enjoyed a long, healthy life and has now rejoined Mom. He would not want us to be sad, but to come together and be happy. To that request……. Please join his family on Saturday, 11/26/11 at 1650 Glen Road, West Palm Beach, Florida to share memories of his life. Between the hours of 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Call 561.373.2197, 561.722.1559 or 561.722.2119 for information or directions. Valet parking available. Instead of flowers, Howard would prefer a donation to the Salvation Army or because he loved the outdoors, you could donate to the West Palm Beach Fishing Club or The Florida Wildlife Conservation League, and send a kid fishing or to learn to be a sportsman. A loving message from your daughter Sandra… Goodbye for now, but not always, my wonderful, generous, kind Father who taught me so much in life, ….Integrity, honesty, goodness and love. Love of God, Mom, family and the outdoors, news, football, basketball, friends, animals, good movies and funny stories. Our bond was so special. I will always be your little girl and no one ever had a father as wonderful as you. I remember, standing on your shoes and dancing with you when I was little and I remember every wonderful moment with you all the way through the rest of your life…working with you, going to lunch with you, making you dinner, helping you and you helping me after Mom died. You are with her now, and all of us who are left, cherish our memory of you, we will not forget you and will tell your stories to your grandchildren and great grandchildren. Smile on us along with all of the other members of our family who have gone before you….tell them how they were loved and how you were loved and help us with the grief of losing them and now….for a moment….losing you. A loving message from your son Gary… I was proud to know you dad. Thank you for all that you have taught me. I love you
