Howard W. Eggen, 96 was called home to our Lord in the early morning hours on November 28th, 2021. Howard was born on July 15th, 1925 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to August and Elna Eggen. He had 2 older brothers, Bob and Elmer as well as a younger sister Norma, all of whom preceded him in death. Howard attended school in Fort Dodge where he also attended St. Pauls Lutheran church. Dad was very active in the church youth group and was also an excellent skater, one of his favorite activities. Dad enlisted in the Army in May of 1946 and served 3 years of wartime duty. He was Honorably discharged in September of 1949 and received a World War II Victory Medal. On May 14th, 1950, he married Colleen Ann Omann at St. Pauls Lutheran church in Fort Dodge, Iowa. They would go on to have seven children. They lived in Iowa for several years before moving to Miami, Florida in 1954. They moved again to Lake Worth, Florida in 1955 where Howard started and successfully ran his own business, ITZ-NU Products. In 1955, Dad and Mom purchased a home in Lake Worth and became members at Our Savior Lutheran Church where Dad was their oldest living member until he went to be with the Lord. Dad was always a strong witness for Christ and never afraid to share his faith. Dad never really retired, he always had his hands in something. Dad and mom were married for 64 years. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Colleen, who went to be with the Lord in December of 2014. Howard is survived by his Children Mark (Eileen), Timothy (Judy) , Martha (Louis), Joseph (Jenelle), Philip (Vicki) and Daniel (Trish), as well as 21 Grandchildren and 35 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his youngest Daughter Rebecca, who unexpectedly went to be with the Lord in February of 2005. In his final years Dad was lovingly cared for by Nacha, who started as Dads caretaker and became his close friend. Nacha's excellent care allowed Dad to live out his final years in his own home. A memorial service will be held for Howard on Sunday, December 12th @ 1:00pm at our Savior Lutheran Church on Lake Avenue in Lake Worth Beach. Dad will be buried next to his beloved wife Colleen with a military service at The National Cemeteray on 441 in Lantana on Monday, December 13th, at 9:00am.
