Helen Marie Long Mericle, 86, peacefully departed this life on February 20, 2024, in Orange Park, FL. She was born on September 5,1937, in Indianapolis, IN. Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was honest, kind and giving. She was the go-to person for the family when it came time to help with childcare. Helen was a faithful Catholic and a founding member of Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church along with her husband Albert who preceded her in departure to heaven. Helen was also predeceased by her daughters, Tina, Linda and Teresa Mericle and her brother, Timothy Long. She is survived by her daughter, Victoria (Vicki) Mericle and her grandchildren, Allie and Albert Mericle. She is also survived by her sister, Dolores Flaherty, her brother-in-law Roger Flaherty, both of Chicago, IL, her sisters-in-law Cheryl Long of Pembroke Pines, FL, Marilyn Mericle Meeks of Jacksonville, FL, Mary Mericle of Deland, FL, Janet Podell of Carlsbad, CA, numerous devoted nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and lifelong friends. In her early years she was a loving stay-at-home Mom and as she entered her career, became a certified Medical Secretary and a diligent bookkeeper. Helen was a dedicated homemaker and seamstress. She made all the children's clothes including their Catholic school uniforms for 12 years and since they were two sets of twins, everything matched. She also volunteered to coach cheerleading, lead brownies and girl scouts, in the school cafeteria as well as many church functions. She and Albert were always active participants in their children's activities and by all accounts, were perfect parents. She and Albert dedicated their lives to their children and always prioritized their needs. If desired, charitable donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
