On December 16, 1941, Harvel Veronica was born to her parents Iris Dixon and Clement Hyde Blake in Chantilly, Manchester, Jamaica. Harvel was the eldest of her siblings. She attended Chantilly Elementary School and Papine High School in Jamaica. Harvel pursued her food catering diploma at Lyn's Catering School and she also obtained a certificate in childcare education. Harvel met the love of her life, Alfred Alexander Broomfield and from this union they gave birth to their son Everald Alexander Broomfield. Harvel migrated to the USA in 1967, but on December 28, 1968, Harvel and Alfred joined together in matrimony fulfilling their marriage covenant. Harvel, adopting to the culture of the USA, pursued her high school diploma and graduated from Ferndale High School in Michigan. She completed one year at Oakland Community College in Michigan and she also graduated from Keypunch Academy as a Computer Data Base Operator. She began her employment at Detroit News as a Data base Computer Operator in July 1976 which she completed after 25 years. Harvel enjoyed learning, but her greatest passion was serving in the ministry. Harvel served in many areas in the ministry including serving as a Sunday school teacher, in ushering, and hospitality. In 1995 Harvel and her husband Alfred was blessed with their first grandson Nicholas. It was not long after this that they made a decision as a family to migrated to West Palm Beach, Florida to retire. In 1997 Harvel and her husband purchased a new construction home in Loxahatchee, Florida. Their migration was completed in 2001 after her retirement at the Detroit News. Harvel could not be still during retirement, so she and her husband seek the Lord for a church home to be active members. The Lord directed them to Acts 2 Worship Center in 2002 and from then Harvel served diligently in several capacities including nursery, prison ministry, nursing home ministry, and the prayer team. Serving was her motto so Harvel could be found at the hospital bedside when another church member was ill. She was also present at many funerals or just taking a pot of soup to those who the Lord laid on her heart. On February 4, 2015 Harvel spent a great time with the saints at Acts 2 Worship center engaging in prayer and worship and basking in the presence of her Lord. It was not long after leaving her church home that the Lord called her to dwell with Him in glory. Left to carry on her legacy : Son, Everald Broomfield; Grandsons, Nicholas and Nathaniel Broomfield; Great-grandson, Anthony Broomfield; Daughter-in-law, Ann-Marie Broomfield; Grand-daughter-in-law Katterine Broomfield; Brothers, Basil Williams and Alfred Williams; Sisters, Leonora McPherson, and Mirriam Jackson. Sister-in-law Donna Williams, Brother-in-laws Sylvan McPherson and Horace Jackson; Nephews, Nieces, cousins, and numerous friends.
