The earthly world lost a truly one-of-a-kind, Harriet Ann Jeweler, who passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025. Harriet was born in Long Beach, New York to the late Melville "Mel" and Muriel Cohen. Growing up she loved spending time with family, music, dancing, and going fishing with her father on the weekends. She especially loved watching her New York Yankees. Years later, the family moved to Maryland where Harriet graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, then briefly attended the University of Maryland. Following an arranged blind date by family friend, Rose Fischer, on November 22, 1967, a good- looking young man arrived at her home in a gold Pontiac Le Mans wearing a blue shirt, grey slacks, black socks, and loafers. Harriet was so taken by Norman the moment she opened the door! He came in and spent hours chatting with her parents before taking her out to eat where they discovered having so many of the same interests, friends, and favorite restaurants. After only two dates, Norman proposed and Harriet said YES! They wed on January 19, 1969. In February 1971, her son Michael was born. Six years later in May 1977, their family was complete with daughter Lauren's birth. Time spent with Harriet was always so much fun – filled with laughter, visits from friends and family, and food! So much food! While Harriet did not excel at cooking, she loved to eat – going out for dinner was a very common occurrence and it was truly treasured time. Harriet took so much pride in taking care of her beautifully kept home and raising her children with so much love and support. She was also fiercely protective of her family - you did not want to be on her bad side! While having traveled all over the world with Norman, her most cherished time was spent with Lauren and Michael whom she adored and was so very proud. Harriet's strength was immeasurable. Having endured multiple surgeries, including two kidney transplants, and numerous other health struggles, her spirit never weakened. She was a true force of nature and her vivacity was felt by anyone she met. There was never a dull moment with Harriet and she was so very loved and will be deeply missed by so many. She is survived by her husband Norman and beloved dog Buddy; son Michael (Nicholas) and daughter Lauren (David). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the National Kidney Foundation or a local dog rescue organization in your area.
