Harbans (John) Jain passed away peacefully on March 14, 2012, surrounded by his loving family and dear friends. Harbans was born on August 15, 1931 in Mumbai, India to Mohkamchand and Chandan Devi Jain, who preceded him in death. He excelled in school and achieved the prestigious title of "First Class Student." Harbans went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Jai Hind College, Mumbai, India in 1954, and was captain of his Cricket Team. At 25 years old, he was the first in his family to leave India, in search of a career, to make a better life for his family. He arrived in England and worked as a chemical engineer to help support his family in India. Harbans eventually moved to Canada, then the Bahamas, where he started his business, "Eastern Oasis Retail Import and Export." While starting his business, he also worked as a supervisor at Bahama Cement Corporation. In 1975, he married his loving and beautiful wife Parveen. The family moved to the United States in 1979 where Harbans worked full-time at his business, becoming a very successful businessman. Harbans enjoyed music, swimming, drama, the sciences, and spending time with his family. He leaves to his cherished memory, his wife, Parveen; children, Anita Jain Spraggs, Neal Jain, Aruna Jain and Amit Jain; grandchildren Tina Easthom, Taylor Spraggs and Brandon Jain; siblings Muni Lal Jain, Om Prakash Jain, Sushil Jain, Jawahar Lal Jain, Chanchal Kumar and Kamlesh Jain; and many nieces and nephews, and treasured friends. A Hindi service will be held to celebrate and memorilize Harbans' life on Sunday, March 18, 2012, at 11:00 a.m.at Palms West Funeral Home, followed by a private ceremony with the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made in celebration of Harbans' life to Alzheimer's Association of Southeast Florida, 3333 Forest Hill Blvd., West Palm Beach, 33406.
