Greta Williams, the first child of Stephen and Violet Grey was born in Kingston Jamaica, February 26, 1931. As a young child her family moved from the city to the parish of Manchester where she completed all her schooling and was successful in the Jamaica Local examinations. As a young woman Greta returned to Kingston where she studied nursing and worked in the hospital there for many years. While in Kingston she met her late husband Dudley Williams and this union produced two children Lorna and Dudley. During this period Greta also loved, nurture and care for another child she often call her own son, her nephew Michael. The family immigrated to the United States in 1968 in search of the American dream and lived in Mt.Vernon, New York. For many years she worked at a nursing home in New Rochelle, New York and established strong ties both at the workplace and in her community. She developed breast cancer and became a twenty-eight years survivor. Despite this adversity she found the strength to take care of her family and to always offer friendship, encouragement and kindness those who knew her. She relocated to Port Saint Lucie, Florida in 1999 where she lived with her spouse until his death in 2007, after which she moved to Wellington to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Greta is a natural at making new friends wherever she goes, but she never forgets her old friends. As the saying goes, "make new friends, but keep the old, one silver and the other gold". She loved her family and has a special love for her children and grandchildren. She was a fantastic mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Mrs. Williams is survived by her children, Lorna Nugent, Dudley Williams; by her grandchildren, Lori and Leighton Nugent, David and Ami Williams; by her sisters, Daphne Grey and Dorothy Baker, and several nieces and nephews, two of which are like her own kids, Allyson Baker-Silverstein and Dr Michael Clarke. Other nieces and nephew include Suzette Grey, Veronica Grey, Sharon Grey, Patricia Grey, Wayne Grey, and Ainsworth Grey. She is also survived by her cousins Shirley Wilson and Deloris Brown and son-in-law, Locksley Nugent, and other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed May her soul rest in peace and the light perpetually shine upon her.
