Grace Lee

July 12, 1929 — August 25, 2021

Grace Lee, was born on July 12, 1929. She was born in the Tung Kuan County of Kwan Tung Provine, China. In addition to being our beloved mother and grandmother, she was also affectionally known as Ajaw (big sister), Agoo (aunt), Tai Chiao (chinese name), Gracie and Mrs. Lee. Grace's late husband Albert Lee, and her parents, George and Mary Lowe Wei Fong predeceased her. Before Grace was born, her father left China in pursuit of a better life in Jamaica. She grew up with her mom for the early part of her life until her mom left to join her husband. Grace was left in the care of her grandparents. Grace obtained some schooling in China before her parents sent for her to join them. She arrived in Jamaica in 1953, reuniting with her parents and met her six (6) siblings – Hyacinth (Cherry), Yvonne, Patsy (deceased), Victory, Brenda and Allan. Shortly after arriving, it was arranged to meet and wed Albert Lee Pow. Albert and Grace then settled on Wildman Street and together operated a grocery shop for 23/24 years. Their union produced four (4) wonderful children – Pauline, Maxine, Archie, and Jennifer. In 1978, Albert and Grace migrated to Florida, USA with their youngest child, Jennifer. They bought a home and settled in West Palm Beach. Both worked in the Chinese restaurant business until Grace retired as co-owner of a quaint take out restaurant named "Orient Chef". As her name suggests, Grace was a gift from God to her family. She was hardworking, generous, loving, kind, warmhearted and caring. Her ability to show her affection through food, warm hugs, and her infectious smile (despite anything), was her trademark. Grace was known and will be sorely missed for her exceptional cooking skills and delicious dishes. Signature dishes like her Sow Bows (steam dumplings/chai sui or chicken), Chicken and Mushroom and Pork and Yam, were soooo perfectly portioned and seasoned . In 2013, when Grace's late husband transitioned, their family home was sold, and she moved in with Archie. In 2016 Grace moved in with Jennifer who took on the magnanimous role of caregiver when Grace's health started to deteriorate. Grace transitioned on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, sadly leaving her four children, three sisters, two brothers, twelve grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. We love you mom. You are no longer in pain. Sleep in peace. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. GRACE - an appropriate name for a gracious lady! Her smile and her demeanor exuded all that her name implied, and made it so easy for others to be around her. She will be greatly missed and remembered for her quiet and calming presence, by all who knew her. GRACE lived her life generously and graciously, and we know that by the Grace of God, she will Rest in Peace. We express our condolences to the Lee family, and grieve with them in their loss. Derick and Zona Case (Jennifer's Father in law and Mother-in-law)
