Glyne Anderson Griffith

Glyne Anderson Griffith was born on July 20, 1943 in Barbados. He hailed from Church Village in the parish of St. Philip. Griffith immigrated to America in 1963, settling in New York City, and later Long Island, New York. He studied at Brooklyn Community College, then served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Glyne married the former Joan Small, also a Barbadian. He earned a Bachelor's degree in behavioral science with a specialty in criminal justice, and a Master's degree in professional studies with emphasis in psychotherapy and counseling, both from New York Institute of Technology. Glyne served with distinction as a police officer, sergeant, and detective with the New York City Police Department. After retiring from the NYPD in 1989, Glyne and his family moved to Royal Palm Beach, Florida. Glyne worked as a child protective investigator for the Florida Department of Children and Families, and later as a psychologist and counselor for the Florida Department of Corrections. Glyne was a member of the First Seventh-day Adventist Church of West Palm Beach. He passed away peacefully at home on September 22, 2022, at age 79. Glyne is survived by his loving wife, Joan Griffith; daughter, Tanya Roach; son-in-law, Mitchell Roach; granddaughters Samarii Roach and Azarii Roach; son, Glyne Griffith II; daughter-in-law Olivia Griffith; grandson Glyne "Trey" Griffith III; granddaughter Brooklyn Griffith; daughter Juliette Campbell; son-in-law Rhoan Campbell; grandson Ian Campbell; sister, Bondell Griffith; nephew, Brad Griffith; brother-in-law, Allan Small; and cousins Bruce Vaughn, Vilma Butler, and Glendolyn Coppin. The celebration of Glyne Griffith's life will take place on October 9, 2022, at the First Seventh-day Adventist Church of West Palm Beach, with interment to follow the next day on October 10 at the South Florida National Cemetery.
