Glenroy Palmer Harris, 84, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026. He was born on September 27, 1941, in Clarendon, Jamaica, to the late Lindsay Harris and Louise Palmer Harris.
A gifted student, Glenroy attended Mico Teachers College in Kingston, Jamaica, where he prepared for a life rooted in education and service. He began his career teaching in St. Andrew, shaping young minds with patience and care.
In 1969, he married his beloved wife, Monica, beginning a devoted partnership that would span 56 years. Later that year, he immigrated to the United States in pursuit of greater opportunity. With determination and quiet strength, he worked while earning his Bachelor of Arts in History from Fordham University in New York.
Glenroy went on to establish a long and dedicated career as an Environmental Health Specialist with the Palm Beach County Health Department, serving his community with integrity and commitment for decades until his retirement in 2004.
He was known for his kind, generous, and jovial spirit. An avid reader, he cherished literature across many genres and built an extensive personal library over the years. He found great joy in returning to Jamaica many times over the years and had a deep love for nature, taking pride in cultivating his garden.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Monica; his daughter, Dr. De Anne Elinor (Gregory) Collier; and his cherished grandson, Bradley Harris Collier. He is also survived by his siblings, Sonya, June, and Vincent, along with a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Glenroy’s life was marked by quiet strength, resilience, and enduring love for his family and community. His legacy of perseverance, warmth, and dignity will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
