Glenn "Bugs" Peck, Chief Hospital Corpsman, United Stated Navy Retired, age 90 of Lake Worth, Florida peacefully passed away at home on Thursday, May 26th, 2011. Graduate of Melvindale High School, Melvindale, Michigan; he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1939. He was wounded in 1942 while serving as a Hospital Corpsman with the U.S. Fleet Marine Corps at Guadalcanal. For his actions, he received a Purple Heart, 3 campaign ribbons, defense bar with star (Cuba), defense bars (Atlantic and Pacific theaters) and defense bar with gold star (Guadalcanal). Chief Peck continued a successful military career retiring after 30 years of honorable service. Returning home, to Allen Park and Melvindale, Michigan, Glenn completed a second career with McLouth Steel Corporation retiring as Shipping Department Superintendent. He was member of VFW posts in Lincoln Park and Allen Park Michigan; Fleet Reserve Association; Naval Reserve Association; and Disabled American Veterans. He was raised a Master Mason by the Civil and Military Lodge 726, Grand Lodge of Scotland, Bermuda. Returning to the United States, he belonged to Masonic lodges in Buffalo, New York; Key Lodge 580, Allen Park; Wolverine 464 and Temple 501, Detroit. He was Master of Temple 501 in 1975 and 1980. He was active with the Detroit Moslem Temple Shrine as a Lancer; and 32° Scottish Rite Mason with the Valley of Detroit, Orient of Michigan. After moving to Florida, Glenn affiliated with Scottish Rite, Valley of Lake Worth, Orient of Florida where he was active as a member and volunteer for several years. Proceeded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Ila Willard Peck. Glenn is survived by his brother, Francis "Skip" Peck and a brother-in-law Donald "Jake" Willard. His son, Gerald Peck and wife Patty; daughter Barbara Kinney and husband, Jay; daughter Sallyann Dowling and husband, Patrick and son Thomas Peck and wife, Jill; eleven grand children, fourteen great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandson. Numerous nieces and nephews.
