Gladys "Pearl" (Higgins) Goins, age: 87 passed away August 19, 2013-at Hospice by The Sea in Boca Raton, FL surrounded by her loving family. Gladys resided in West Palm Beach, Florida. Born in Virgie, KY on May 2, 1926 to the late Roxie Lovansky McIntosh Haney and late Charles Grover Higgins. Wife of the late Rev. Howard D. Goins. Survived by Son, Lester D. Goins of Dearborn Heights, MI; Son-Robert Monroe Goins (Pa m) of Dearborn Heights, MI; Son-Jeffrey Lee Goins (Gloria) of Bar Harbor, ME; -Son-H. Dwight Goins (Kathy) of Lucasville, OH; Daughter-Linda K. Goins-Simon (Dennis) of West Palm Beach, FL; Daughter-Cassie A. Goins-Stander (Don) of Bedford, MI; Daughter-Margo E. Goins-Milavec (Lou) of Northville, MI; Son-Ed Goins (Sue) of Redford, MI. Sister-Barbara Ann Gordon (Mike); Brothers-Woodrow Higgins (Eva); George Higgins (Jessie); Frank Higgins; Fred Higgins (Diane); the late Emmit Higgins, Dillard Higgins and Philip Higgins; 26 Grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren, and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren. She also leaves behind many dear and loving friends. Gladys was a member of the Burton Penecostal Church of Bypro, KY, past resident of Weeksbury, KY, provided a lifelong service to God through many years of teaching Sunday school classes both in Kentucky and Michigan, a homemaker, an avid quilter and gardener, won many blue ribbons for her delicious canned goods and for quilting, Gladys was also a Kentucky Colonel and dedicated herself to her community through ministry and volunteer services. Gladys will be remembered by many for her outstanding cooking of the best southern foods one could ever eat. She will be loved forever and greatly missed. Visitation is from 6PM-10PM Friday August 23, 2013 at the Nelson Frazier Funeral Home Chapel, Hindman, Ky. Funeral service will be held at Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Hindman, KY on Saturday August 24, 2013, at 11:00 AM. Officiating: Rev. Lewis Sandlin and Rev. James Butler. Burial: Holbrook Cemetery, Cromona, KY.
