He was born in Custonaci, Trapani, Sicily on October 25, 1922. He is preceded in death by his lovely wife, Lena Bonventre, whom he married on August 30, 1948.
Gioacchino, also known as Jack, served in WWII as a Sergeant in the Italian Army.
He worked in a number of careers over his lifetime. Some of his work included coal mining, construction, and the manufacture of automobiles. Jack worked for Ford and Poma and Sons.
He was a member of The United Auto Workers, and had a passion for gambling, fishing, cycling, and gardening.
Jack is survived by his children, Francesco Poma (W. Kimberly), and Dina Poma McPherson; his grandchildren (to whom he was known as "Nonno"), Alex, Jason, Joseph, Justin, James, Jayme, Michael, Jonathan, Jeremy, and his 20 great-grandchildren.
