Gert Kuhl, 70, of West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Gert was born in Bad Kreuznach, Germany on February 21, 1955. He was the only son of Heintz Willy and Anna Maria Teresa (Kronier) Kuhl. During his early years, Gert's family traveled the world living in Germany, France, Iran, Turkey, and in Africa in Nairobi, Kenya, and Swakopmund, Namibia. He told stories of the times he and his parents traveled and camped in the bush where they would see the African wild life in their natural environment among the native African tribal people. When Gert was a young teenager, his family traveled to America by ship to be near his sister, Ute, and brother-in-law, William McGovern, in Woodbridge, VA. Gert settled in Grafton, Wisconsin with his father and mother where he attended high school and graduated top of his class. After graduation, Gert enlisted in the United States Army on August 30, 1974 where he completed his education specializing in Electrical Engineering, Microwave Communications, and Information Technology. During his military service, Gert was deployed to Vietnam and was later based in Okinawa Japan, South Korea, and Germany. He retired honorably with the rank of Sargent First Class on May 31, 1995 with 22 years of service. After leaving the Army, Gert worked for a short stint at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. He then, decided to move south settling in West Palm Beach, Florida where he met his wife, Anne (Noel) Kolp, while he was employed with Palm Beach County in information technology services. Gert and Anne have been best friends and soulmates for 25 years. Shortly after Anne retired, they married on October 10, 2010 at 10 a.m. in a ceremony at The Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida. They enjoyed their retirement traveling in their Prevost bus. They spent a lot of time at the Florida Prevost and Marathon Coach maintenance facilities keeping their bus in top notch condition. Every year Gert and Anne attended the annual Prevost Show and made many new friends. Last year they finally made it out of the state of Florida traveling in their bus all the way up to Anne's home state of Michigan. They spent their time visiting family and friends, dining at nice restaurants, and taking in the sites along the way. Gert had a kind heart and a sentimental spirit. He loved being near the great lakes and the ocean. Over the years he has cared for many pets, cats and dogs, aquarium fish, a parakeet, parrots, and even a penguin. He was a rescue scuba diver in Wisconsin and joined a sky diving club while in the military. He loved to cook, especially baking breads and desserts. He enjoyed fine dining with wine pairings. While on leave from the military, he had a once in a lifetime experience dining at the Paul Bocuse Restaurant in France and fondly would relay every detail like it was yesterday. Gert was a people person and a teacher. He enjoyed talking about all kinds of subjects with everyone he met. Above all, he was a man of science and engineering. He would always be tinkering with new ideas and with his various inventions. He enjoyed learning new things. He had a love of history and a knack for teaching the history of the world by telling a story. With his vast knowledge of science, engineering, history, geography, foreign places and people, he could talk about any subject with authority. Gert was loved dearly by his wife, family, and friends. He left this earth too soon and he will be greatly missed. Preceding Gert in death are his parents, Heintz Willy and Anna Maria Teresa (Kronier) Kuhl, and father-in-law, William Gary Noel. Gert is survived by his wife Anne Marie (Noel) Kuhl and his sister, Ute (William) McGovern, mother-in-law, Helen Marie Noel, brothers-in-law Gary (Susan) Noel and Jeffrey (Karen) Noel and nephews, Thomas (Joy) McGovern, and Peter (Desire'e) McGovern, Maxwell (Tracy) Noel, Alexander (D.J.)
