Gerald “Jerry” L. Rickert, a beloved figure in the community, passed away on January 28, 2026, at the age of 79 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Born on February 27, 1946, in Abington, Pennsylvania, Jerry made a lasting impact as a commercial artist and sign maker throughout the tri-state area.
His education at Hussian Commercial Art School in Philadelphia laid the foundation for a career that showcased his creativity and skill, dedicating his talents to his trade while continually giving back to his community. Generous by nature, Jerry often lent his artistic abilities to create signs for local charities and little leagues, demonstrating a commitment to uplifting those around him.
Jerry was married to his wife, Joycelynn “Joy” Rickert, for 53 years. This enduring partnership was characterized by mutual support and affection, as they shared a deep bond that spanned decades. Together, they built a beautiful family, including their son, Ben, daughter-in-law, Jennifer, and two cherished grandchildren, Courtney and Gavin.
He will be remembered not only for his artistic talents but also for his warm personality and amazing sense of humor. Jerry had a natural ability to make others laugh, often lightening the mood with a quick wit or a perfectly timed joke. His love for music, particularly soft jazz, added a melodic rhythm to his life, while his passion for hunting antiques, especially Coca Cola memorabilia, reflected his appreciation for nostalgia and history. An enthusiastic semi-pro bowler, he enjoyed many joyful moments on the lanes with his son, Ben, which became a cherished part of their relationship.
A true dog lover, Jerry’s home was always brightened by the presence of his four-legged friends, embodying his compassionate nature. His personal motto, "Livin' day by day," served as a testament to his outlook on life, showcasing his ability to embrace each moment fully.
Jerry leaves behind not only his wife, Joy, but also his son, Ben (Jenn) Rickert, and his grandchildren, Courtney and Gavin, who will remember him as a pillar of strength and affection in their lives. His warm spirit and generous heart will be profoundly missed by all those who had the privilege to know him. May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to those he left behind.
