George O. Morris

April 4, 1940 — March 7, 2023

George Oscar Morris, beloved husband, father, friend, and "Pop-Pop", left this earthly life on March 7, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was welcomed home to heaven by his son, Danny, mother and father, Gladys Rozina and John Frederick, and siblings Lucy, Lydia Ann, Jim, Pete, Kenneth, Jarold, Jack, and Jean. George leaves behind his devoted wife of 59 years, Linda, daughter, Leigh Ann, grandchildren, Brianna, Nicholas, Dustin, Juliana, Crystal, Cohen and Landon, as well as his children-in-laws, Nelson, Erin and Bruce, and his brother Donnie. Born in Bethera, South Carolina, he later relocated to Royal Palm Beach. While working for the village as supervisor of parks and recreation he was involved in building many of the parks around the village. Outside of work, George was a skilled craftsman, creating many stunning wooden clocks. A select few are lucky enough to have one of his creations in their homes. He was very particular about who received a clock or other piece he made, he didn't take custom orders or let you buy an existing piece, he would just decide one day that you were next on the list and you'd end up with one, no explanation. He was the same way with his famous peanut brittle, not letting people place orders, no matter how much they begged. He only ever made it between Thanksgiving and Christmas, only a batch or two at a time, and you just had to be on the "list". We are all truly devastated to be without him but also rejoice at the reunion he is having in heaven. While we may no longer see him, we absolutely feel him around us already. As we watch his wind catchers spin on the patio, as we wager the pomegranate tree he was so proud of, as his clocks chime in our homes, and all of the other little signs he's sending us that he's here. We welcome all of those who loved George to join us Monday evening at 6 pm at Palms West Funeral Home as we honor his life. In lieu of flowers, his family requests instead that you spend time creating something, planting something, or just get out in to nature in his honor.
