Gene E. Callender, a loving mother, devoted wife, and culinary artist, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025, in West Palm Beach, Florida, at the age of 88. Born on January 17, 1937, in the vibrant country of Barbados, Gene carried the warmth and spirit of her homeland throughout her entire life. To know Gene was to be embraced by her truly kind and sweet spirit. Her hands, so skilled in the kitchen as a chef, were equally adept at nurturing her family and friends. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel cherished and seen, and her presence was a comforting, gentle light in the lives of those she touched. Gene's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, demonstrated in her beautiful marriage to Vincent Callender and in the profound bond she shared with her children, Esther Ellis, John Callender, Wingrove Bridgeman, and Victor Walcott. She was a guiding and inspirational figure to her grandchildren, Roseann, Nekela, Richard Ellis, Jonathan, and Jay Callender, who will forever carry her legacy of warmth and compassion. Gene's memory will be cherished in the hearts of her beloved family and all who were fortunate enough to have experienced her gentle nature and delicious cooking. Her memory is a precious and tender one that will continue to bring comfort and joy. Funeral Arrangements A visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Palms West Funeral Home, located at 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411. A funeral service, officiated by Reverend Trevor Ellis, will follow at the same location. The burial will take place at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery, 10941 Southern Blvd, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411.
