Gary Wayne Flowers

Deputy Sheriff Gary Wayne Flowers 48, of Palm Beach County, Florida died at 12:14 pm Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at JFK Hospital in Atlantis, FL. He was born February 17th, 1971 in Quincy, IL to Coleburn Boyd Flowers and Joette Flowers of Kansas City, MO and he married Paola Flowers on January 26, 2005. Survivors include his spouse Paola Flowers of Palm Beach County, his children: Morgan, Garett and Brooke Flowers of Longview Texas; mother, Joette Flowers; brother, Kenneth Flowers of Trenton, MO; sister, Tina Oak of Kansas City, MO; nephews and niece: Mark Oak II, Jeremy Oak, and Steven Oak of Kansas City, MO (Tina's Sons), Christina Oak of Kansas City, MO (Tina's Daughter), Brandon Flowers, Christopher Flowers, and James Flowers of Trenton, MO (Kenneth's Sons) He was proceeded in death by his father, Coleburn Boyd Flowers of Kansas City, MO. Deputy G.W. Flowers served four years in the United States Marine Corps, four years in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne, and six years in the National Guard. He was a Police Officer for Belle Glade, and Greenacres Police Department before joining the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office in 2001. While serving as a Deputy, Gary worked in the DUI Unit for five years, as a Motor Patrolman for twelve years, and served with the Honor Guard for ten years for PBSO. He won several MADD Awards and two Life Saving Awards while serving as a Deputy. Gary was also a Freemason, a member of BYKOTA Lodge #133. Brother Gary was initiated in June 2010, passed to the Degree of Fellow Craft in October of 2010. and raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason in February 2011, Brother Gary served BYKOTA Lodge as a Senior Deacon in 2015, and a member in good standing until his calling to the Celestial Lodge. B.Y.K.O.T.A, Be Ye Kind One to Another. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, February 3rd, 2020 at Palms West Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, February 4th, 2020 at Palms West Funeral Home with burial to follow at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida.
