FRITZIE GREEN Born April 25, 1925 in Winchester, VA to Louis and Celia Zuckerman, Fritzie Green was the 7th of eight children. She graduated from Handley High School in Winchester in 1943. After graduating she had many jobs from dress store manager to working as an actress in numerous theater plays after graduating from modeling school. She even worked as a runway model. While all of her brothers were serving their country during World War Two, Fritz also wanted to help out in some way. So, she would entertain troops while working with the Red Cross doing U.S.O. type shows during the war. Years later while working as a business bookkeeper she met her one and only husband, Marvin. Not long after marrying she had one son, Ernie Lee. Unfortunately, Fritz and Marvin divorced after sixteen years. Afterwards, Fritz lived in North Palm Beach where, among other things, she worked as a writer writing an advice and personal column for over seventeen years. Her column was incredibly popular. She even ran her own singles club. And soon enough, happiness came her way again in the form of two beautiful baby granddaughters, Megan Amber and Mara Lee. It turns out that after becoming a grandmother Fritz found her true love: being a grandmother. In 2004 she was diagnosed with pancreas cancer. After a successful operation she was cancer free for over four fantastic years! But, like all good things, this too wouldn't last. First it was a spot. Then a suspicious area. Then, after more chemo and radiation, it seemed clear that although Fritz won the initial battles the war was far from over. The last two years, despite the fighting and almost inhuman strength, the pain and the dreaded disease ended the war. So, on March 26 2010 at approximately 5:45 PM in the afternoon, my mom, the best mother, grandmother and friend anyone could ever hope to have, slipped away. Goodbye mom. I will never forget the gifts of love, and lessons of life, you gave to me, your granddaughters, and anyone who was truly blessed enough to have known you. Fritzie is survived by her son, Ernie Green. Her granddaughters, Megan and Mara Green. Her brothers, Sam Zuckerman, Charles Zuckerman and Aaron Zuckerman and her sister, Esther Betty Baraff and her nephew Jay Baraff plus many more much too numerous to mention. Services will be held at the Palms West Funeral Home on Monday, March 29 at 12:00 PM. Donations can be made in her name to Hospice of the Palm Beaches.
