Frederick W. Boomhower, of Wellington, FL, formerly of Randolph, MA, died surrounded by family on March 27, 2016. He was 76 years old. Freddie is survived by his wife of 52 years, Maryann Boomhower of Wellington, FL; his sister-in-law Sandra Anderson of Avon, MA; his nephews and niece and their families Paul J. Anderson and Meghan Daly of Avon, MA; Carla Anderson and Michael Uribe of Studio City, CA; Joseph and Catie Anderson and his great nieces Ava and Alivia Anderson all of Whitman, MA; and many wonderful friends and family both in Florida and New England. Freddie was born on November 3, 1939 in Boston, MA to the late Rita and George Boomhower. Growing up, he was an altar boy at Mission Hill Church and attended Randolph High School where he was a star football player. Upon graduating, Freddie joined the U.S. Navy Reserve and was called to duty during the Korean War, stationed in Washington, D.C. and serving in the Honor Guard. After serving his country, Freddie started a career in construction framing houses while he played semi-pro football for the Randolph Oilers. In the early 1960s, his career transitioned to an iron work apprenticeship, continuing on to become a journeyman and joining the International Association of Iron Workers Local 7 in Boston, MA. Freddie met his wife Maryann in 1961 and they married on his birthday, November 3, 1963. The couple settled in Randolph, where they lived for 40 years. Freddie served his town in many ways as a Town Meeting Member in Precinct 6 and a special detail police officer. He enjoyed fishing in the Randolph "rezzy", swimming in his backyard pool, and family gatherings every Sunday. In 1983, Freddie and Maryann began their life in Florida, purchasing their vacation condo in Royal Palm Beach where they made countless happy memories with family and friends, eventually retiring there. Freddie served as President of the Greenway Village Condo Association before moving to Wellington. Freddie thoroughly enjoyed retirement taking up golf at the young age of 69. Within months of buying his first set of clubs, he shot a rare and coveted hole-in-one. He golfed at least twice a week and continued to swim every day where he solved the problems of the world alongside his pool buddies. Being the tech savvy guy that he was, Freddie loved sending emails and group texts and consistently kept his family and friends LOL'ing with his hilariously inappropriate humor. LMAO! VBG! A wake will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 4pm-8pm at Palms West Funeral Home in Royal Palm Beach, FL. A funeral is scheduled for 11am on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at St. Rita Catholic Church in Wellington, FL. A service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 out of Hurley Funeral Home in Randolph, MA with final burial at St. Mary's Cemetery in Randolph, MA. In lieu of flowers, which will not be able to travel to his final resting place, donations can be made in Freddie's memory to the Paul W. Anderson Scholarship Fund (1 Bruce St, Avon, MA 02322). .
