Francisco Antonio Quintero

Dr. Francisco Quintero, age 77, of Wellington, passed on August 14th at home, surrounded by his family. Francisco is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 54 years, Isabel. He is also survived by his children, Margarita, Juan Carlos, Maria Isabel, and his grandchildren, Vanessa, William and Trevor. He was the oldest of seven surviving siblings: Jaime, Tony, Mike, Leonor, Hernando, Nora and Gloria. Francisco was born in Tunja, Colombia on June 15, 1936 and earned his medical degree from Javeriana University in Bogotá, Colombia. Upon graduation, Francisco came to the United States with his wife and children and completed his pediatric residency at Baltimore City Hospital. He served four years in the U.S. Army as Lt. Colonel in Brussels, Belgium, where he was the Director of the NATO Health Clinic. Thereafter, he moved his family to New Jersey to pursue his beloved career as an Emergency Room physician. Francisco, affectionately known as "Pacho," enjoyed a long career as an E.R. physician, serving as Director of Emergency Medicine at Centra State Medical Center in Freehold, New Jersey. After moving to Wellington, Florida in 2003, he joined the team of Emergency Physicians at the VA Hospital in West Palm Beach. Francisco was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a talented musician, artist and writer. He spent endless hours reading and published an autobiography, "Beyond the Mountain Road." Francisco touched many lives and kept his loved ones entertained with his wisdom, hilarious stories, and beautiful piano playing. He had a heart of gold, an infectious energy, and limitless generosity. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
