It is with an aching heart I share with you the passing of my mother Fran, called by God on October 10, 2026 near our home in West Palm Beach, FL.
For those close to Fran, you knew a loving and caring woman that enjoyed laughter, a nice conversation, a delicious meal or better yet a sweet, a long walk or drive in the car, traveling abroad especially to her beloved Portugal, a warm sunny day, and a good movie or show on television. She was always willing to help and give her opinion on things incase you wanted to know. You could count on her support, trust in her care, and take comfort she was there when you needed her.
If you weren't lucky enough to know her, you would quickly realize all those attributes when you met her. You would also know she was born in Sao Miguel, Azores and moved to Massachusetts when she was a young girl with her parents Antonio and Maria along with her siblings she now watches over Ligia, Bert, Isaura, and Tony. You learned she had a long career and retired as a school teacher. She was also an entrepreneur trying her hand at many things especially her passion for decor. Her taste for finer things was obvious but also her comfort in the most simplistic. You couldn't help but like Fran no matter who you were. And the last thing everyone would know seemed to be her greatest passion and joy in her life, me her son Brad. If mom crossed your path you quickly knew about "her son". In a moment she would tell you everything there is to know about me. Strangers would approach me and ask, "Are you Brad? I just met your mom." It was an ongoing theme and our family and friends always laughed about her admiration and adornment of her only child. How i was so lucky to have the greatest mom in the world I will never know. She was my mom, best friend, confidant, shoulder to cry on, teacher, number one fan and the person I looked up to most. Missing her is an understatement and how I'll go on I'm not quite sure yet, but I will because she will forever be with me and guide me through. That's how she would want it, to see her "baby" smile to see "my son" succeed. I love you mom.
Please join our family on October 24th, 10am at the St. Anthony of Padua Church in Fall River, MA for a memorial service. After we will get together at the White's of Westport Restaurant in Westport, MA for food, sweets and refreshments. We can laugh and share stories just like she loved most.
