Florence Wanda Sheppard, born June 8, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York, died unexpectedly at home September 5, 2007. Her parents were Josephine and Joseph Lyczkowski. Florence lived in New Hyde Park, Long Island for 16 years after her marriage to her first husband Eugene W. Poorvin, and moved to the West Palm Beach area in 1953. She raised her children in West Palm Beach and Lake Worth while also working as Office Manager for Universal Carloading & Distributing Co. Florence married Jacob Leland Sheppard in 1970 and had many happy years together until his death. Her loving children, Ronald Poorvin (Joan), and Gloria Poorvin owe any successes they may have achieved in life to her loving guidance and examples. Florence adored her grandchildren Kevin Poorvin (Shannon), and Greg Poorvin, and her great-grandchildren Candice Elaine "Ellie", Cassidy Lee, and Brayden Jacob Poorvin. They each gave her many delightful, happy, and proud moments to add joy to her life. She will be missed more than words can say. Florence is also survived by many loving friends, nieces, nephews, grand- nieces and grand-nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, September 9, 2-4pm at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Parkway, Royal Palm Beach, Florida. A mass will be held Monday, September 10, 9:30am at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic church, 345 S. Military Trail, West Palm Beach. Florence always loved children. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church with notation, Food Pantry-Children.
