REMEMBERANCES OF FATHER SAM PROFETA MAY 1123 , 1921 – January 23, 2014 Father Sam as he was affectionately know (Salvatore Profeta) was assigned early on after ordination to Florida State University in Tallahassee as the Catholic Chaplin for all the Catholic University Students.. He loved working with college age students in helping them cope with the stress of College life and helped keep them on the "Straight and Narrow Path" of Christian brotherhood and not to accept the moral values of the secular population. After many years working with students he was assigned to the Diocese of Miami to become a regular Parish Priest in Hollywood and other local Broward Catholic churches. It was at this time of his life he had a vision to help the Poor of the World. Father Sam had a special Love as Pope Francis said to assist and reach out to the Poor and Less Fortunate in our Midst. Regardless of sexual orientation, regardless of skin color, regardless of Ethnic background. As Pope Francis and Jesus told us WE ARE ALL GODS CHILDREN. Father Sam prayed feverishly to Mary Madonna of Christ and during a vision thought it appropriate to bring Mary to all in the World as she was a "Beacon of Hope" for the Poor. His vision said to create a Statute of Mary Madonna of the Poor and thru volunteer help from his Parishes and local generous friends found a foundry in Pennsylvania to do the white cement statute for all to pray to for helping the POOR. In the Mid 1980"s took he his statute to Vatican City, Rome, Italy for review and approve, the Pope and Holy See approved his Statute and allowed him to send to whoever wanted it on display. Using volunteers from his Church, his non-profit foundation solicited funds for statutes and delivery systems and brochures publishing his ideas. Thus was accepted the famous...MARY MADONNA OF THE POOR Ministry Today after over 35 years his statute has been send at NO CHARGE to thousands of Churches and other places where May can be seen in gardens, home yards, Church grounds, etc etc e in affluent and Poor Churches alike throughout the World. She is widely seen on display in Europe, South America, Asia, North America, Latin America, Australia and elsewhere. His Legacy Speaks for itself. Locally here in Wellington his Statute can be seen on the GROUNDS OF ST RITA PARISH ALONG THE SIDEWALK OF THE PARISH HALL TO THE LEFT OF THE MAIN ENTRANCE AS YOU WALK IN.
