EVELYN "MARGARET" WESTERHOLT Evelyn "Margaret" Westerholt of Wellington, Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home with her family at her bedside on Sunday, February 8, 2015 after an illness of only a week. She was 97 years old. She was formerly of Miami Lakes, Florida and North Haledon, New Jersey. Margaret was born December 21, 1917 in Paterson, New Jersey to George and Louise (Leschorn) Whitla. She grew up in Hawthorne, New Jersey. Her beloved husband, John, passed away at the age of 90 on May 2, 2008. They had been together for 75 years, having met at the age of 15. She is survived by her loving children, Jack and his wife, Laurie of Wellington, Florida; George and his wife, Mary Lou, of Davis, California and Joanne (Westerholt) Ljungberg and her husband, Charlie of Holden, Massachusetts and Stuart, Florida. Margaret leaves behind 8 grandchildren (John and Robert Westerholt; Jack and Steven Westerholt; Kristin Ljungberg Babigian, Erik Ljungberg, Mark Ljungberg and David Ljungberg and 12 great-grandchildren {Natalie and Morgan Westerholt, Haley, Kenneth and Jordan Westerholt, Lilly, Andrew and Emma Ljungberg, Skye and Sienna Ljungberg and .Nicolas and Sofia Babigian. She also leaves behind 2 sisters, Helen Rachel of Tampa, Florida and Catherine Evans of Hawthorne, New Jersey. She was predeceased by her sister, Emy Lou Klein, of Hungtington, Indiana and a brother, George Whitla of Hawthorne, New Jersey. She will be missed and loved forever by all who knew her. Margaret loved her family and enjoyed her home. She enjoyed swimming, biking and travelling. Margaret enjoyed reading and listening to audiobooks. She always looked forward to watching Lawrence Welk on TV every Saturday and Sunday night. She was fortunate to be able to live at home independently until 1 year ago when she found her wonderful caretaker and companion, Carmen, who became like family to her. The family wants to thank Carmen for her loving and tender care and for making Margaret's life so happy during this past year. Family and friends will gather together at Margaret's home to celebrate her life on March 7, 2015. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida 33407. The family wants to thank Hospice for their expert medical care and special comfort measures over the last 2 1/2 years.
