At 6:47 P.M. on Saturday August 24th Evelyn Walker Harney breathed her final breath on this earth and was led into Eternal Life by her Lord, Savior, and Friend, Jesus Christ. Though she leaves many friends and loving family behind we are not without Hope, therefore, we shall all persevere both in this life and in our faith, for the legacy that Evelyn has left to us all is the legacy of a life of faith, not only believed but seen by others as she obediently walked and lived by the Word of God. She loved unconditionally. She prayed for those she knew and loved consistently, and she boldly shared the Gospel of Christ with the lost around her. Evelyn knew she was a child of the King. Peter 2:9-10 "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praised of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy." Because of that Mercy shown to her she was able to show mercy to others. Evie spent most of her life as a home maker and a home keeper. She saw to it that her children grew up knowing they were loved and knowing The God and Savior who makes that love possible. In her early years Evie worked her families Shrimp Boat. First the "Lollita II" then the "Gale" from age five to fifteen. She shrimped and fished from Key West to Cuba to Fort Pierce to Cape May, New Jersey where at fifteen she entered Cape May High. She married at 17 and at 19 became Mother to Penny. She lost 4 sons and at age 26 became mother to Michael. She became a pharmacy tech and worked part time for a number of years, became a salesperson at Hallmark later to become the manager of Debbie's Hallmark in West Palm Beach. She served for many years in the Music Ministry of the Church where she shared her beautiful singing talent. For thirteen years she sang with her longest friend Joan Dixon under the guidance of Betty Simonsen at Cape May United Methodist Church. She would carry that talent to West Palm Beach, Florida where she was served at Victory Baptist church in the seventies and Gold Coast Baptist church where she sang with The Ladies Quartet "Promise." Then at Florida Gardens she sang with Voices of Praise. She continued serving through nursing home, rehab and assisted living Ministry. She was instrumental in her husband's gospel song writing, singing, and recording ministries. She gave for so many and we thank God for her.
